The Collaborative Project ~ Styling Collection Part Two

A Love Like This - Part two of The Styling Collection The Collaborative Project Mount Isa

Our second phase of 'The Collaborative Project ~ Mount Isa' was an engagement shoot. Leonie Winks and I initially decided on a couple, but timing didn’t allow that combination to coincide. So, we then commenced brainstorming… who would fit the brief of a vibrant couple who would eloquently portray the vision of ‘getting hitched’? I remembered that I had an impending Wedding with an lovely local couple. I took the chance and reached out to the then ‘bride-to-be’, Jade, and asked whether this project would be something they would be interested in. Both Jade and Simon were on board with no hesitations at all. If anyone knows Jade, you will find she is the sweetest and most ‘easy going’ chick you will ever meet. She made the styling of her recent Wedding Ceremony a breeze and such a pleasurable experience for me. We knew this partnership would be perfect.

We then had our couple, now to the design and location. Leonie and I took a trip towards Camooweal and found an old fragmented road surrounded by the wild flower Mulla Mulla, white gums and red dirt. This was our spot.

Once we had the location, I could really hone into the colours that were going to be used in both Jade and Simon’s outfits, the flowers, props and in the hues of Jade’s make-up. We needed everything to compliment the surroundings and piece together like a well thought out painting. The final colour palette encompassed soft pinks, peach and lilac. The vision of the shoot was reminiscent of a 1940’s/1950’s era, where romance existed in its purest form. We wanted the shoot to be contemporary, but still have a vintage undertone.

On the day... Not much direction (if any) was needed for this couple. Jade and Simon have been together for a while and have two beautiful daughters together, yet they looked at each other as if they had only locked eyes yesterday. Even I had butterflies watching them. It was truly a lovely experience and I believe these raw romantic feelings were captured perfectly through Leonie’s lens.

Thanks for helping us out Simon and Jade!!

The Collaborative Project Oversight…

Recently 10 local businesses took part in a series of three styled photo shoots. The intent of these shoots is to showcase a sample of the remarkable products and services that Mount Isa has to offer. To boast about Mount Isa’s gorgeous contrast landscapes and to give metropolitan areas insight into the reality of Mount Isa and not just a perception they may already hold.

These photo shoots and the project itself are now featured in the November Issue of Townsville lifestyle magazine DUO. DUO is distributed to over 400 locations throughout North Queensland, holds an online readership base of around 33,000 impressions per issue and a whopping 45,000 readership of the printed version. This magazine is an amazing platform to place Mount Isa into and we are thankful that they saw the opportunity to run our story /photo shoots.
